Rabinovich, an Israeli Jew, presents an impressionistic and panoramic overview of this unique urban center, incorporating vignettes from a wide spectrum of the religious and ethnic community. There are a number of scenes featuring the city's mayor, Teddy Kollek; a composite portrait of both Muslim and Jewish lifestyles; and a description of the social processes of integration of the city after the 1967 Arab–Israeli war. An underlying theme is that if people from two different cultures can interact on a personal level, as in Jerusalem, then there is hope that the Arab-Israeli conflict may abate.
